IMC-Lewes presents weekend meditation Nov. 1 and 2
Insight Meditation Community of Lewes welcomes returning meditation teacher Larissa Kitenko for an evening Dharma talk and half-day meditation retreat Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1 and 2, on the 2013 topic, Buddhism in Everyday Life - Living the Dharma.
Both events will be held at St. Peter’s Parish Hall in Lewes. Non, beginning and experienced meditators are all invited to attend this weekend of learning to live in the present moment.
Kitenko is a longtime practitioner of insight meditation, studying and practicing Buddhism in the Theravadan tradition. She has completed the Community Dharma Leader-4 Program and the Dedicated Practitioner Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California, and is also participating in IMC-Washington’s Teacher Training Program, guided by Tara Brach, PhD.
The Dharma talk about Buddhist teachings will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov.1, and followed by discussion and refreshments. The half-day meditation retreat will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 2, and will include sitting and walking meditation with some brief discussion.
The suggested donation for Friday’s talk is $10 and $25 for the Saturday retreat. For those with limited income, 50 percent, or any amount of the suggested donation, is welcome. If budget does not allow for a donation, simply show up; no explanation is needed.
Saint Peter's Episcopal Parish Hall is at 211 Mulberry St. in Lewes. Chairs are provided. For the retreat, attendees should bring their favorite floor mediation cushions and/or blankets.
