Charles N. Beebe, 71, of Lewes died Aug. 12 following an illness while incarcerated at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna.

Beebe was serving a life sentence plus two years and six months following a 1987 sentencing, said John Painter, spokesman for the Department of Correction.
