It's high time Sussex County considers Impact fees

By Eck Erb | May 12, 2013

Back in 2009 Sussex County Planning  and Zoning asked Superintendent George Stone for comments regarding school capacity.  He responded that the elementary and middle schools were at capacity and that Sussex County should consider impact fees for new developments.  I understand that Dr. Stone did not receive any consideration for his comments.

I find it hard to believe that we don't have impact fees to assist the county with infrastructure, schools, fire, police, etc.  We have Republicans on county council who should be helping the residents of Sussex County and one Democrat who acts more conservative than the Republicans.  It's embarrassing and needs to change.

It appears the Realtors and developers are getting the attention of county council with the exception of the lone Democrat instead of us.  This picture stinks as far as I'm concerned.

I'm hoping this letter can create an agenda with our readers and the media that corrects this gross pandering to developers rather than consideration to the homeowners.
