The Cordrey Center in Millsboro will feature local author, lecturer and genuine rocket scientist Jack Clemons, who will return with his entertaining presentation "Catching Apollo," a behind-the-scenes look at NASA's Apollo Moon Landing Program, at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 18.

Clemons will include film clips, vintage photographs and personal anecdotes drawn from his years working as a lead engineer supporting the Apollo astronauts during their missions to the moon. He'll also share little-known stories about the people and teamwork that saved both the Apollo 12 and Apollo 13 missions from near disaster.

Clemons was an executive with Lockheed Martin, but his early career was spent in Houston, Texas, where he worked on both the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. He was featured in the Science Channel's six-part documentary series “Moon Machines,” and he currently writes a biweekly science blog for Amazing Stories Magazine online. He has also given talks to both adult and middle school audiences on the topic Why Science Matters.

Attendance is $10. Refreshments, including wine, will be served. To register to ensure space is available, call 302-945-5853. The Cordrey Center is at East Coast Garden Center, just off of Route 24, at 30366 Cordrey Road, Millsboro.
