James Meo, great storyteller
James Meo, 63, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at his residence. He was born July 21, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of Margaret Mary (Reed) Meo and the late James J. Meo.
Mr. Meo grew up in Philadelphia, attending Philadelphia schools through high school before going on to Strayer University where he graduated in 1973 with his business degree. He went on to open and operate his own deli called The Stock Market Deli in Bensalem, Pa. Following the deli he went on to manage numerous restaurants before semi-retiring in 2000 to Rehoboth Beach. In Rehoboth Beach he worked at the Boardwalk Plaza and most recently in real estate sales with Long & Foster Realty. He also spent countless hours volunteering in his community and actively participating at his church, The Truth and Life Center in Georgetown. Mr. Meo was not only a great storyteller but an excellent listener. Anyone who came in contact with him was instantly a friend and knew he was there to help them in any way he could. Mr. Meo was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Meo is survived by his daughter, Nicole Meo of Fairless Hills, Pa.; his son, Christopher Meo and his wife Jillian of Glenside, Pa.; his grandson, Hayden; two brothers: John Meo of Philadelphia, and Frank Meo and his wife Sue of Philadelphia; his cousin, Jean Mayo Lehrman of Reading, Pa., whom he considered like a sister; and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A Celebration of Mr. Meo’s Life will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at The Truth and Life Center, 106 N. Race St., Georgetown, where friends may visit beginning at 3 p.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of Parsell Funeral Homes, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, DE 19958, to assist in defraying funeral expenses.
