James R. Moore of Rehoboth charged for soliciting sex from teen
A 59-year-old Rehoboth Beach man and registered sex offender faces charges after police say he solicited sex from a teen boy.
James R. Moore was charged with 30 counts of unlawful sexual conduct against a child by a sex offender and failure to register within three days of a change of address. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $602,000 cash bond.
Police began investigating Moore Aug. 2 after a 17-year-old boy's mother contacted police. She had found several disturbing text messages on her son's cell phone from a man named Jim Moore, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
Moore was requesting, and had paid on at least 10 different occasions, the 17-year-old to perform and have performed on him unlawful sexual acts, Fournier said.
Police determined Moore was a sex offender registered at a Palm Drive unit in Rehoboth Beach, however, when they arrived at the unit, tenants told police Moore had moved.
Police discovered Moore had moved to Sanibel Circle in Rehoboth Beach; police arrested Moore Aug. 6 while he was working at the Rehoboth Beach Kmart, Fournier said.
