Jesse Millman, former school board member
Jesse Millman of Milton, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was born Memorial Day, May 30, 1924. He went to be with his wife, Betty and daughter, Tammy Friday, May 9, 2014. He was a gentle, loving father who showed his children how to be a good parent. His love, gentleness and dependability were seen throughout his life. He was one of 15 children; the 11th child and the seventh son born to Edward and Bessie Millman. He is survived by one brother, Robert Millman.
Jesse worked for Draper King Cole in Milton until his retirement at the age of 70. He attended the Grace Church in Milton. Family, gardening, hunting and sports brought joy into the life of Jesse. He played baseball and was inducted into the Eastern Shore Baseball Hall of Fame. A warm spot in his heart was the Milton Little League where he coached young boys - always praising their efforts. Of course, the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies were his teams of choice! Jesse was a member of the Cape Henlopen School District Board of Education and a faithful scorekeeper for the Cape Henlopen Basketball Team. When not keeping score, you could find him on the top row of the bleachers cheering the team on to victory. But, by far, what brought him the most joy was his family.
Jesse is survived by his son Jesse Millman II and his wife Patti; granddaughter Dawn Hopkins and husband Johnny; great-grandsons Izaak and Justin and his wife Alison; grandson, Shawn Croswell and wife Wendi and granddaughter, Kaitlyn; daughter Joyce Rauch, granddaughter, Jennifer Rauch, granddaughter, Dawn Taylor and husband Troy, great-granddaughter Alyssa and great-grandson Troy (LT); grandson, Rusty Rauch and wife Katie and great-granddaughter, Haley and great-grandson, Hunter; daughter, Diane Lockwood, grandson, Don Lockwood and wife Kerry, great-granddaughters Kirstin, Elizabeth, Victoria and Meredith; grandson, Darin Lockwood and wife Rebecca, and great-grandsons, Alexander and Andrew.
