Kane Memorial Fund appreciates supporters
On behalf of my family and the Vance Kane Memorial Fund I would like to thank everyone who turned out July 27 to support our first event, a car wash at the Jiffy Lube Car Wash in Lewes. It was very successful and 100 percent of our proceeds, just over $800, have gone to The Breast Health Center at the Tunnell Cancer Center.
Sara and Mike Soules, owners of Jiffy Lube and the Jiffy Lube Car Wash, could not have been more helpful, providing the car wash to us free of charge for more than four hours. They advertised the event through social media and on the radio and even bought lunch for the kids and adults who participated. Two local thrift shops, All Saints' Parish and God’s Way, helped by providing towels at a fraction of their cost.
Thanks also go to our sponsors, Book and Associates, CPA, Boulevard Ford, 1776 Steakhouse, Kane Electric, Pirates of Lewes Expeditions, Jiffy Lube Car Wash and the Tunnell Cancer Center Staff. LogoMotive designed a wonderful flyer and the T-shirts sold at the event. Mary L. Green, director of development at Beebe Medical Foundation, has provided invaluable support since the inception of the Fund in March of this year.
You cannot have a car wash without people to wash the cars. Tyler Kane, a senior at Sussex Tech, helped to plan the event and organized friends to help wash and dry the cars. His sister, Tatim Kane, brought friends along to help guide people into the car wash. She also made the posters. Vance and Kathy Kane along with Terese and Tim Kane, of Kane Electric, kept the event moving along and did lots of washing and drying as well.
Without their help and support there would not have been an event, let alone a successful one.
