Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians holds first installation

The newly formed Sussex County Division of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and its members were installed Nov. 17 by Past National President Margaret Hennessey following celebration of the Mass by the Rev. William Mathesius at St. Edmond’s Catholic Church.

The LAOH was organized in Omaha, Neb,. in 1894, and its members are female practicing Roman Catholics, 16 years of age or older and Irish by birth or descent, legally adopted, the wife or mother of a Hibernian, the mother of a Junior Hibernian, or a member of a religious order. The motto of the LAOH is Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity.  The group performs community service activities and makes charitable donations in the local area.
