Laura Davidson, Bellbuoy Motel retiree
Laura Davidson passed away peacefully at Harrison House in Georgetown at the age of 95. She was born in Wilmington March 13, 1918, to the late Walter and Sally Truitt.
Laura worked for the Junior Board Coffee Shop at Memorial Hospital in Wilmington for 13 years. She was a salesperson for Niagra Cyclo Massage. She relocated to Georgetown and drove a school bus for three years. She worked at the Bellbuoy Motel for 13 years. She retired from the County Seat Florist at the age of 80.
During her life, she was president of the Democratic Club, treasurer of the Federation of Democratic Clubs, and President of Elks of New Castle, as well as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW 6984 in Milton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Sarah Molten; seven brothers and four sisters; her husbands, Howard Parsons, who was killed during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944; Albert Ferringer; her husband of 28 years, Ira McCruden, who passed away in 1998; and Robert E. Davidson.
She is survived by her three children, Ann Doutt and husband Don of Millsboro, Richard Parsons and wife Carol of Townsend, and Ginny Walls and husband Barry of Georgetown; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Family and friends may pay their respects Wednesday, Sept. 11, at noon in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call an hour before. She will be laid to rest in St. Georges Cemetery.
