Legislators hold successful meeting
We would like to thank the 168 residents who came out to our Storm Preparedness/Evacuation Meeting held Nov. 19 at the Roxana Fire Department. This meeting was made a success by Rep. Gray’s invited panel and his organization of time. The panel that came gave their time and deserves a very special thank you. Brooks Cahall, environmental program manager of the Division of Watershed Stewardship, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, took an evening of his personal vacation to join us.
Mike Powell, environmental scientist for the Division of Watershed Stewardship; Don Knox, chief of natural hazards for the Delaware Emergency Management Agency; Kevin Keeley, acting deputy director of DEMA; Joe Thomas, director of Sussex County Emergency Operations Center; and Gene Donaldson, TMC operations manager for the Delaware Department of Transportation, all came down after working hours to meet with us.
Each of these gentlemen provided information and offered personal assistance to those in attendance regarding storm preparedness, evacuation procedures, emergency information systems, and current projects in place to review the flooding that occurs in the back bays. Tony Pratt of DNREC was present in the audience and was kind to provide some clarification in regards to the flooding concerns for the residents along Route 54.
For anyone who missed the meeting we will have additional information available on our websites and in our upcoming newsletters.
