Lewes — The Lewes Board of Public Works honored outgoing Mayor Jim Ford and Director Jim Richmann during the final meeting for both officials April 23.

Elected mayor in 2004, Ford has served on the board as an ex-officio member, working with the board over the last decade. He thanked current and former board members and staff for their dedication and help.

He specifically pointed to the board's participation in the land purchase for the new library as an example of how the two governing bodies worked together well.

"We've had an interesting relationship between the city and the board," he said. "Hopefully the continued relationship will grow and enhance in the future."

Richmann, board vice president, was elected to the BPW in 2010. He also served as treasurer and assistant treasurer during his tenure.

"He's going to be missed tremendously," said board President C. Wendell Alfred as he presented Richmann with a certificate of appreciation of his dedication, devotion and invaluable service.

Like Ford, Richmann thanked current and former board and city council members and wished them luck as they move forward without him.
