Lewes Canalfront Park to host Easter Egg Hunt March 30

Mar 07, 2013
Source: Submitted The Easter Bunny is busy at the Lewes Canalfront Park, scouting out good hiding places for the thousands of treasures and treats he will be bringing for the first Easter Egg Hunt at the park. The hunt begins at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30.

A first-time event for the Lewes Canalfront Park will take place from 11 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 30, when the park’s first Easter Egg Hunt is held on the park grounds on Front Street in Lewes.

The Easter Bunny will be there and ready for photos with the children. Trinkets, treasures, candy and more surprises will be hidden in 3,000 eggs in the park. In case of rain, the hunt will move indoors to the park building. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Lewes Canalfront Park, Washington’s Green Grocer, The Inn at Canal Square, Rasevic Landscaping, Realtors Stacey and Grey Pfarr of Delaware Realty, ONI MRI, Meghan Leahy-Parent Coach and individual sponsors Hugh and Kathleen Leahy, and Bob and Val Cloutier.

There will be a $5 charge for one child and $10 for a family with two or more children. The event is recommended for kids 10 and under.

Stephanie Boright, Friends chair, said, “Grab your Easter baskets and hop on over to the Canalfront Park for our first annual Easter Egg Hunt. It will be fun to watch the kids search for the thousands of treasures and treats tucked away in the bushes, playground and gazebo, all in our beautiful park.“

Tickets and more information can be found at www.lewescanalfrontpark.org, and PayPal is available for charges.  The event is limited to the first 200 children who register online.

The Lewes Canalfront Park is one of the shining jewels of historic Lewes. Located on Front Street in downtown Lewes, the site was purchased and a 2.9-acre park was designed and built between 1999 and 2009.

Gifts of $2.7 million were donated by friends, citizens and businesses to create the park, and it has become a center for events and activities through the efforts of the Friends of the Lewes Canalfront Park.

A full schedule of activities is planned for the 2013 season and is available at www.lewescanalfrontpark.org.
