Lewes couple charged in beer keg thefts
Rehoboth Beach police arrested two Lewes residents Nov. 17 in connection with stealing beer kegs from Rehoboth Beach restaurants.
Jason J. Wilz, 33, and Cheryl A. Messick, 44, were arrested after police received information that they took beer kegs from Rehoboth Beach businesses, said Rehoboth Beach Police Chief Keith Banks.
Police also found evidence in a maroon Ford Explorer used by the couple, he said.
Wilz was charged with three counts of theft, three counts of criminal trespass and two counts of criminal mischief. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $5,500 secured bail.
Messick was charged with receiving stolen property; she was committed to SCI in default of $1,000 secured bail.
Banks said police continue to investigate the beer keg thefts; more arrests may be forthcoming.
