Lewes faced with change: Vote for Osler
My husband and I first came to Lewes for summer vacations over 10 years ago. We pulled into parking spots on Second Street even in August. Not much traffic on Savannah, no wait at restaurants or heading into Cape Henlopen on a Saturday. Did we keep our mouths shut about this treasure of a town when returning home to Arlington, Va.? No, and, I suspect, neither did many others. The word is out. I will vote for Bonnie Osler for city council because Lewes has changed and is faced with more change. We more than ever need her to navigate through a period that could see Lewes move forward with dignity or fall to exploitation from people without interest in Lewes as a community but with interest in making money and getting out of town. Bonnie has been associated with “good change,” as a volunteer with both the Historic Lewes Farmers Market and The Village. Change is not always bad. She also knows we need a city planner on board to help us see the big picture and make the right decisions about changes that will come, want them or not. Plus, Bonnie does not have any business interests in Lewes. Her interests are growing and keeping a vibrant community. If we fail and Lewes falls, it won’t be Bonnie fiddling away on the Second Street McDonald’s roof amid hotels and casinos.
