Lewes, Indian River, Rehoboth, and Georgetown fire company members assembled at Lewe fire station on Savannah Road to honor Howard Adkins with a final alarm April 4. A familiar figure, as a fire policeman, at fires and crashes responded to by Lewes Fire Department volunteers over the past several decades, Adkins was a Life Member and past Fire Police Captain for Lewes Fire Department, Life Member and past President of the Sussex County Fire Police Association, and a Life Member of the Delaware State Fire Police Association.
