Public workshops to discuss preliminary design ideas are planned 4:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, and Monday, April 15, at City Hall.

Lewes — The City of Lewes is sponsoring two public workshops on development of a Lewes Gateway project master plan.

Informal presentations explaining possible master plan elements will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 10 and Monday, April 15, at City Hall.

Lewes Gateway includes Stango Park and the existing Lewes Public Library site, and an adjacent 6-acre parcel the city purchased in December for the new library.

The site will also include a new trailhead for the state’s 17.8-mile Georgetown-Lewes-Cape Henlopen Rail with Trail project. The new parcel allows Stango Park to be expanded along both sides of the new trail.

The public is invited to attend the three-hour workshops to learn about the new library and trailhead, and to offer comments, ask questions, and provide new amenity ideas for the trailhead and enlarged Stango Park.

Ideas generated during the workshops will be considered in the development of a preliminary master plan design, which is expected to be ready for public review in early May.

A final master plan design could be completed around Wednesday, May 15.

The city has hired Landscape Architectural Services LLC, and Chura and Associates to assist with design and public facilitation of the Lewes Gateway master plan. For additional information, call Mark Chura at 302-542-3305.
