Lewes man pleads guilty to role in Rehoboth smash-and-grabs

Rehoboth Beach — A Lewes man has pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful use of a credit card stolen in a smash-and-grab theft in Rehoboth Beach.

Dale Carter, 51, was arrested by Rehoboth police Feb. 10 after he was identified  using surveillance video from the Lewes Wawa, where Carter and a still unidentified woman used a credit card stolen in a smash-and-grab theft at the Rehoboth shopping center to purchase gas.

Carter was charged with identity theft, unlawful use of a credit card and receiving stolen property in connection with the Jan. 17 incident.

Rehoboth police officials said the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are forthcoming. Anyone with more information is asked to call Lt. William Sullivan at 227-2577 or submit a tip to Crime Stoppers at www.tipsubmit.com.
