Lewes Public Library receives $12,500 from Sussex surplusFunds earmarked for construction of new facility
Sussex Councilwoman Joan Deaver brought a check for $12,500 to Lewes Public Library Feb. 20. The money represents the Lewes library share of a portion of the Sussex County budget surplus from fiscal year 2012 that council members voted to direct toward the county's libraries.
"This is one of the best things the council has ever done," said Deaver. "It will benefit so many people."
Lewes Public Library Director Ed Goyda said the money will be placed in an account for construction of a new library facility. He said an anonymous donor has placed the first donation in that account, and the county money represents the second donation.
