Lingo family helps Lewes library achieve sales goal
Since May 2012, the Friends of the Lewes Public Library group has worked hard selling 75 percent of the print run of its cookbook, “Cooking with Lewes Friends: A Collection of Recipes from Friends of the Lewes Public Library” in order to be eligible for a contest that could bring a first-place prize of $5,000 to the library.
Thinking Realtors might find the beautiful book an appropriate thank you gift for buyers during real estate closings, Candace Vessella, president of the Friends of the Lewes Public Library, presented the idea at a recent Jack Lingo staff meeting. The presentation was well received, but John Lingo and the Lingo family had a better idea. After inquiring how many books needed to be sold to reach the sales goal, the Lingo firm purchased 150 books to enable the Friends to reach the mark.
Ed Goyda, director of the Lewes Public Library, said, “The Lingo family has always been strong supporters of the library. We greatly appreciate their generosity in helping the Friends reach this milestone for the cookbook contest.”
The purpose of the Friends of the Lewes Public Library is to promote knowledge of the library’s functions, services and resources, and to raise funds to support library needs. The Friends cookbook is available for purchase at the library, at www.leweslibrary.org and at various shops and restaurants in Lewes.
