The American Red Cross Delmarva Region celebrated Red Cross Month March 26 with volunteer leadership, community partners and donors at Woodburn, the official residence of Gov. Jack Markell and first lady Carla Markell. The evening was an opportunity to spotlight the accomplishments of the Red Cross over the last year.

The local American Red Cross is able to provide critical services to the community thanks in large part to its volunteers and partners. Some highlights include Red Cross response to 268 emergencies last year and support for 350 families with assistance such as housing, food, clothing, seasonal garments, infant supplies, comfort kits, and referrals; training to over 8,000 people in lifesaving skills such as First Aid/CPR/AED; support for 431 military families with more than 700 services; and much more.

“On behalf of the American Red Cross Delmarva Region and all those we serve, we are extremely grateful to all our volunteers and partners for their ongoing help in ensuring Red Cross services are available right here in our community,” said Patrick K. Delaney, CEO, American Red Cross Delmarva Region. “I also thank Governor and Mrs. Markell for their generosity in opening Woodburn to us for the evening as well as for their support of our mission.”
