Exalted Ruler Eileen Loftus of Lodge 2540, left, is shown presenting Past Exalted Ruler Doris A. Becraft with a certificate as an Honorary Founder of the Elks National Foundation Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States. Becraft's donation of $1,000 to the BPOE to further its mission and ideals earned her the Honorary Founder designation.

Among its many community activities, the BPOE sponsors youth scholarships, local Hoop Shoot competitions, drug awareness programs and veterans' services.

Members of Lodge 2540 meet at 8 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Call 302-645-7016 for more information.

Lodge Secretary Gale Brand, left, receives a Citation of Merit from newly elected ER Eileen Loftus for her untiring efforts in achieving a lapsation of 2 percent for Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540, which means that 98 percent of its members have continued to be active, dues-paying Elks.
