Lorraine G. Hoechner, 87, of Lewes, formerly of Glendale, N.Y. and Brevard, N.C., passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Harbor Healthcare, Lewes. She was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Queens, N.Y., daughter of the late George and Wilhelmina Glatz.

Mrs. Hoechner started her career as a teacher’s aid in New York City schools for several years before transferring to her longtime career as a civil servant with the New York City Department of Human Resources. Upon her retirement in 1988, Mrs. Hoechner and her husband relocated to the mountains of North Carolina, where they enjoyed their pet dogs and relaxation until 2007 when they would settle in Lewes.

Mrs. Hoechner was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard and St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, and reading. A loving mother, grandmother and dear friend, Mrs. Hoechner will be missed by all who knew her.
