Lunch Bunch Lecture March 7 focuses on learning how to de-clutter

Preregistration is required
Feb 25, 2014

Delaware Hospice’s Family Support Center will hold a Lunch Bunch Lecture from noon to 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 7, at the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford. Dr. Judy Pierson, clinical psychologist, will discuss “De-Cluttering: Managing Your Things So They Don’t Manage You.”

Many feel that their things are managing them, rather than them managing their things. The storage facility industry is worth $154 billion each year, more than the film business. The average American spends a year of his or her life looking for misplaced items. Almost 25 percent of adults pay late fees on bills because they have misplaced their statements. According to the National Soap and Detergent Association, getting rid of clutter would eliminate about 40 percent of housework in the average home.

The good news is that about 80 percent of the clutter in people's homes and offices is due to disorganization, not lack of space. Almost anyone can significantly cut the clutter in their lives by getting organized and letting go of things they really won’t ever use. Participants will learn how to overcome the emotional blocks to letting go of stuff, and acquire strategies for eliminating clutter from their lives forever.

Lunch Bunch Lectures are organized by Delaware Hospice’s Family Support Center to help members of the community reinvest in life; they are open to the public.

Registration is required as seating capacity is limited, and the cost of lunch is $5 per person.

Register by Wednesday, March 5, by contacting Michele August at 302-856-7717 or 302-478-5707 or email maugust@delawarehospice.org.
