Dr. Judy Pierson, clinical psychologist, will present “New Technologies for Aging in Place and Caregiving from a Distance” at Delaware Hospice's Lunch Bunch lecture from noon to 1:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12, at the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford.

Most people prefer to remain in their homes as they age. However, their adult children often worry about their safety and live too far away to safely monitor their well-being.  A host of new technologies provides a solution to these competing concerns.

From sensors that let an adult child know if Mom has left the stove on, to pill boxes that remind seniors to take their medicine and unlock the right pills, the options for creating both independence and safety abound.

Lunch Bunch Lectures are organized by Delaware Hospice’s Family Support Center to help members of the community reinvest in life and are open to the public. Registration is required as seating capacity is limited, and the cost of lunch is $5 per person.

Register by Wednesday, Sept. 10, by contacting Michele August at 302-856-7717 or 302-478-5707 or email maugust@delawarehospice.org. For more information about Delaware Hospice’s programs and services, upcoming events, or employment opportunities, call 800-838-9800 or go to www.delawarehospice.org.
