Margaret F. Moore, Phil-Moor Cottage owner
Margaret F. Moore, 94, a lifelong resident of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at her residence.
She was born June 28, 1919, in Lewes, daughter of the late Joseph R. and Mary J. (Phillips) Moore. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers: Lester S. Moore, Clifford A. Moore, Howard Moore and James Moore; three sisters: Mildred Phillips, Helen M. Joseph and Ida Moore; two nephews: James Moore Sr. and Robert Moore; and a niece: Irene Sobara.
Ms. Moore enjoyed a lifelong career with the DuPont Company in Seaford in their lab department. She was part owner and operator of the Phil-Moor Cottages located in Rehoboth Beach, where she thoroughly enjoyed meeting and greeting vacationers. Ms. Moore was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Pocahontas of Redman for many years. She was also a member of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church of Midway and loved being with her church “family.”
Ms. Moore was well known for her exquisite hosting of parties, particularly her annual Christmas parties which she hosted for 60-plus years. Whenever time permitted Ms. Moore could be found at the center of a great game of Canasta.
Ms. Moore is survived by a nephew: Ronald A. Moore of Rehoboth Beach; four nieces: Ruth Herring and husband Robert of Locust Grove, Va., Betty Kennedy and husband Everett Sr. of Harrington, Rosalie Stein and husband Barry of Florida and Paulette Vavala of Orlando, Fla.; her feline companion Bear; and numerous great-nieces, -nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, beginning with Eastern Star services and ending with Christian funeral services. Friends may visit one hour prior to services.
