Maritime Hall of Fame 2014 nominations due May 31
The Delaware Maritime Hall of Fame is now seeking nominations from the public for 2014. Nomination forms can be obtained at www.overfalls.org.
Deadline for this year's submissions is Saturday, May 31.
Delaware’s watermen, pilots, lifesavers, navigators, tradesmen, environmentalists, businessmen, military personnel, educators, and scientists depend on their proximity to the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean for their life’s work. Each year, exceptional individuals who have contributed uniquely and generously of skill, energy, heart, and time in building Delaware’s maritime heritage are honored by induction into the Delaware Maritime Hall of Fame.
More information about the nomination process is available from Deb Bonvetti at firstname.lastname@example.org or 302-420-5666.
University of Delaware professor emeritus Dr. Jack Gallagher, shown, was inducted into the Delaware Maritime Hall of Fame in 2013 for his innovative research on coastal ecosystems of Delaware. Also honored in 2013 were Hazel Brittingham of Lewes, maritime historian; Malcolm Mackenzie of Wilmington, businessman; Capt. Paul Ives of Lewes, Delaware Bay pilot; and Suzanne Thurman of Milton, environmentalist and educator.
