Maryland man fined for hunting, trapping charges

A Maryland man pleaded guilty to wildlife violations that include illegal hunting and trapping Jan. 1 near Millsboro.

Brian M. Duke, 19, of Salisbury, Md., was charged with three counts of possession of killer traps with jaw spread in excess of five inches, two counts of possession of unlawfully taken game by a nonresident, spotlighting, possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle, unlawful possession/transport of antlerless deer parts and unlawful possession/transport of antlerless deer, said Sgt. Gregory Rhodes of the Division of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement. Duke pleaded guilty to the charges and paid $1,600 in fines and court costs.

A juvenile hunting with Duke was charged with possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle, two counts of hunting from a public roadway, hunting from a motor vehicle, hunting red fox during a closed season and unlicensed hunting. His case will be heard in Delaware Family Court at a later date.
