The Rehoboth Beach Film Society and the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation present the Metropolitan Opera’s live broadcast of Shostakovich’s “The Nose,” at 12:55 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Cape Henlopen High School Theater. This new and exciting production is the second opera in The Metropolitan Opera: Live in HD series of live simulcast transmissions for the 2013-14 season.

William Kentridge stormed the Met with his inventive production of Shostakovich’s opera, which dazzled opera and art lovers alike in its inaugural run in 2010. Baritone Paulo Szot reprises his acclaimed 2010 performance of a bureaucrat whose misadventures in search of his missing nose are based on the comic story, “The Nose” by Russian author Nikolai Gogol. The new production is conducted by Valery Gergiev and is a co-production of the Metropolitan Opera, the Festival d’Aix en Provence; and the Opéra National de Lyon. [2013, US, Runtime: 2 hrs, 15 min]
