Michel Bilton of Delaware Blue Cross addresses federal health coverage at NARFE luncheon
Michel Bilton, a Blue Cross/Blue Shield federal employee representative from Wilmington, told federal retirees that healthcare insurers were increasingly interested in providing online and wellness services.
Bilton was the luncheon speaker at the November meeting of the Sussex Chapter of National Active and Retired Federal Employees held at 1776 Steakhouse, Rehoboth Beach.
The local Sussex Chapter is part of NARFE, a national organization that represents federal employees, retirees, and annuitants, promotes their general welfare, and provides advice and advocacy services with respect to their rights and benefits under federal and state retirement laws and regulations.
Bilton told the federal retirees about health insurance options available to them during the federal open season that began Nov. 11 and runs through Dec. 9. “One important feature of the federal health insurance program is that every year there is an open season to allow federal employees and annuitants to make changes to their coverage,” she said.
She encouraged the members to take part in an online Blue Health Assessment. She said, “It gives you personalized wellness information and outlines simple steps you can take to lower health risks - all in just 10 minutes.”
