Representatives from 34 Delaware organizations were awarded financial grants by the Mid-Del Charitable Foundation Nov. 13 at the Harrington Casino. The foundation, developed to consolidate the charitable undertakings of The Delaware State Fair Inc. and Harrington Raceway Inc., supports Delaware-based organizations and charitable, educational, and scientific endeavors which address a wide range of issues, including health and human services, the arts, agriculture, education, and the environment.

The Delaware 4-H Foundation was one of the awarded organizations. The Delaware 4-H Foundation is a 501c3 private foundation founded in 1978 to receive and manage private funds to support the Delaware 4-H program. A board of directors serves without compensation to govern the foundation. The board provides direct support to both 4-H youth and adult leaders. The 4-H program is the state’s and nation’s largest and most comprehensive youth development program. The 4-H Foundation intends to use the grant to further develop leadership efforts and support trained and committed volunteers.

Members of the Mid-Del Charitable Foundation are proud to award the 34 organizations with funding that will support the community, and provide more opportunities for Delaware citizens. Secretary Bill DiMondi says, “We have a great opportunity to give back to the community, and to support these organizations in their endeavors to serve the greater good. In tough economic times, it is a wonderful thing to be able to help our local Delaware residents.”

Organizations interested in applying for 2014 consideration must submit proposals via the official Mid-Del Charitable Foundation grant application form, which is now available. For more information, go to
