Millsboro man killed in South Bethany crash
A 33-year-old Millsboro man died Oct. 6 after police say his car ran off the road and hit a tree.
Christopher Chapman was driving west on Kent Drive at a high rate of speed at 12:57 a.m. when he lost control while negotiating a sharp right turn, said Cpl. John Day of the Delaware State Police.
Chapman overcorrected and his 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier left the south edge of the roadway and rotated counter-clockwise, Day said. The car travelled about 78 feet on loose gravel before the passenger side hit a tree, he said.
Chapman was not wearing a seatbelt; he died in the ambulance on the way to Beebe Medical Center, Day said.
Kent Avenue was closed for three hours during the crash investigation.
