Millsboro men charged in Lewes drug deal
Two Millsboro men face charges after police say they sold heroin to a man Oct. 4 at a Lewes drug store.
The Sussex County Governor's Task Force had staked out the home of a probationer, Eric L. Howell, 38, who they believed was dealing large amounts of heroin, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
Fournier said Jason R. Kehler, 28, picked up Howell from his home, and the two drove to a drug store where police watched them sell heroin to another man. Police stopped the man and found 26 bags weighing .39 grams on him.
Police also stopped Kehler's car and inside found six bags of heroin weighing .09 grams belonging to Kehler, Fournier said; police found 244 bags weighing 3.66 grams and $4,000 on Howell.
Howell and Kehler both were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in tier 2 quantity, second-degree conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, Howell was charged with possession of controlled substance in a tier 3 quantity; Kehler was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Howell was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $38,000 cash bail. Kehler was released on $34,500 unsecured bail.
