Milton Century Club supports Home of the Brave II with $500 donation
The Milton Century Club presented a check for $500 to help support the Home of the Brave’s latest initiative, a transitional home to meet the needs of homeless women veterans and their children. A new facility, Home of the Brave II, will be opening soon in Milford to provide housing and services for up to eight female veterans and children at a time.
The mission of the Home of the Brave is to reduce homelessness among the military veteran population. In addition to providing transitional housing, food and security, HOB assists with employment, counseling services, access to healthcare, transportation and locating affordable housing.
As a women’s service organization, Milton Century Club members were eager to contribute to help female veterans facing homelessness. Nearly 600 veterans living in Delaware are homeless each night. Of this number, about 30 are women veterans, some of whom have children. Others wishing to help this cause may visit www.homeofthebravefdn.org or call 302-424-1681.
At the presentation are (l-r) HOB Board Chair Beth McGinn, HOB Exedutive Director Jessica Finan, MCC member Pat Torelli, MCC President Maryann Donnan and MCC Vice President Judy Shandler.
Women seeking to work with other women to contribute in important ways to the Milton community and beyond might consider becoming members of the Milton Century Club. New members are welcome.
