Milton man arrested in Dover drug bust

An investigation into heroin sales in Dover Feb. 8 resulted in the arrest of a Milton man and a Wilmington man in connection with drug charges.

Through the investigation by the Delaware State Police Drug Unit and Governor's Task Force, detectives observed Colby T. Hopkins, 24, of Milton and Jamar K. Tate, 31, of Wilmington distributing heroin while parked in a blue Town & Country minivan in the parking lot of Wendy's on North DuPont Highway, said Cpl. John Day of the Delaware State Police.

Police found 650 bags of heroin in Tate's pants and also $500. Another 130 bags of heroin were found in the console of the vehicle, Day said.

Tate was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 5 quantity, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a tier 4 quantity, delivery of a controlled substance in a tier 2 quantity with an aggravating factor, second-degree conspiracy and possession of a drug paraphernalia. He was committed to Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $39,000 cash bail.

Hopkins was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 3 quantity with an aggravating factor, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 2 quantity with an aggravating factor, second-degree conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was committed to VCC in default of $32,500 cash bail.

In January, Hopkins was part of group of people arrested in Milton in connection with drug charges. Police raided a home on Bennett Street and found about four bags of heroin weighing .1 gram, 3 grams of marijuana, two suboxone strips, one suboxone pill and drug paraphernalia on Hopkins. Hopkins was charged with possession with the intent to deliver heroin, possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule III controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $2,250 secured bond.
