Milton man dies in single vehicle crash on Cedar Creek Road
A Milton man was killed in an early morning crash on Cedar Creek Road today.
A preliminary investigation indicates that Andrew Rottmann, 28, was traveling south at a high rate of speed on Cedar Creek Road at 2:25 a.m. Sunday, April 27, in a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta.
In the area of Isaacs Road, the vehicle exited the western edge of the road as Rottmann attempted to negotiate a slight left curve. The vehicle reentered the roadway and crossed into the northbound lanes. Rottmann, attempting to regain control, overcorrected, and the vehicle began to rotate clockwise while leaving the right side of the roadway.
The passenger side of the vehicle struck a utility pole, causing the vehicle to abruptly change direction and rotate counterclockwise. It came to rest on the shoulder of the southbound lane.
Rottmann was pronounced dead at the scene. He was properly restrained at the time of the crash. Cedar Creek Road was closed for approximately three hours as Troopers investigated and cleared the crash.
