Milton mayor doing a great job
I wish to thank Mayor Marion Jones, Town Council and Lisa Sumstine, director of the Milton Chamber of Commerce, for their efforts in planning the “Caroling in Milton Memorial Park” event Dec. 2l. It was so wonderful to see the park decorated so festively. Special thanks to Councilman John Collier for providing train rides for the children and adults who felt like children during the celebration.
I felt the heart and spirit of this wonderful town. I was touched by the friendliness and warmth of the families celebrating by singing carols, drinking hot chocolate and devouring homemade cookies served by the Milton Lions Club.
I really don’t want to be political during this time of the year, but feel that I must comment on the recent letters to the editor written by the former mayor, councilman and their wives. I would like to remind them, with all due respect, that Mayor Jones won the election by a landslide. I and many fellow Miltonions feel she made a very wise decision in the recent purchase of the property across from Town Hall. In my opinion the dirt under the house alone is worth twice the amount the town paid. We now have a mayor with great insight and leadership skills. I would like to ask the former mayor to stop griping and finally move on, and enjoy his retirement to the fullest.
