Milton needs its antiques store

By Carol B. Thomas | Oct 15, 2013

I just read your article about the closing of the antique store in Milton that has been a successful business for the last eight years on the main street. What a shame! Doesn't the owner of the property know that business is the only thing in Milton that brings customers into the downtown for anything other than to eat?

There are already five or six vacant stores on the main street - none of which are large enough to house the antique shop. The owner of the building that houses the antique store also owns the empty theater building across the street, which has stood vacant for some years already. Perhaps they could rent the old, vacant, gutted theater building to move the antique store into.

The Griegs, who own the antiques store business, are also responsible for initiating the production of pamphlets describing the various organizations and things of interest in Milton as well as bring the annual antique show to Milton and starting the “Fall Into Milton Fair” in October of every year.

Unless you want your hair done or need a meal, there soon won't be any reason to come to downtown Milton.
