Milton needs to proceed with kiosk

By Fran Fallender | Feb 07, 2013

A very peculiar situation occurred in Milton. It seems that somehow about 75 percent of Cliff Newlands' campaign signs went missing sometime late Jan. 30. However, at least 99 percent of Marion Jones' signs are still standing. Many people have called to complain that Newlands' signs were removed without their authorization. Yes, the night of this incident was extremely windy, but it's very hard to believe that the winds of Delaware are prejudicial. To this date, without any wind, signs still seem to vanish. I believe this act passes the litmus test of unscrupulous political campaigning. Marion Jones was notified. Charges were filed with the police department.

On another note, Councilman Booros offered and constructed a kiosk for town. The town, in good faith, constructed a platform as a base for the kiosk in the municipal parking lot during the summer. The kiosk has been sitting on Mr. Booros' porch since that time. If he is unwilling to part with the kiosk or it does not meet town specs, it would seem prudent for the economic development committee of Milton, that received $6,500 from the FY 2013 town budget, to allocate funds and have one built and installed ASAP. Without a kiosk, the platform can result in someone tripping and subsequently bring a lawsuit to town.
