Milton soap opera must come to an end

By Gwendolyn "Wendy" Jones | Feb 19, 2013

The letter from Mayor Cliff Newlands' co-habitant Fran Fallender begs a response. It reminds me of the old adage, "Only the evil flee when no one follows."

The missing signs of which she whines, were likely placed as a result of intimidation, or in yards where no one was currently residing, akin to having the dead vote. Speak of desperation!

This should come as no surprise to those readers familiar with this three-year soap opera. If re-elected, Milton's current Mayor Cliff Newlands will drag Milton residents over "Kamikaze Kliff." Again.

Of the many examples available, I refer to Cape Gazette article, dated Sept. 11, 2012, "Budget process offers new challenges for Milton," where both the town manager and a council member complain of micromanaging from Mayor Newlands. May the apparent collusion with Chief Phillips regarding the Milton Police budget be regarded as the actions of a megalomaniac? Only the voters in Milton on March 2 can decide.

I'm sure that I'm not the only voter that looks forward to the crash and burn of Cliff Newlands' re-election gambit by an overwhelming margin, similar to his ill-fated water referendum last spring.

Milton needs to heal and an honest, responsible person as mayor, who can be relied upon to perform their duty with pride and Integrity, will be found in Marion Jones.
