Milton teen suffers minor injuries in two-car crash
A 16-year-old Milton girl suffered minor injuries May 14 in a crash at the intersection of Cave Neck Road and Route 1.
Delaware State Police say after coming to a stop in the median crossover about 3:15 p.m., the girl attempted to cross the southbound lanes of Route 1 to enter Cave Neck Road. However, as she did so her 2004 Ford Explorer was hit on the passenger's side by a 2013 Lexus ES350, driven by a 61-year-old Bethesda, Md. man. The Explorer overturned trapping the 16-year-old girl inside.
The girl, who was properly restrained, was removed by EMS and transported to Beebe Healthcare with non-life-threatening injuries. The 61-year-old Maryland man and his 60-year-old wife were not injured but were taken to Beebe Healthcare as a precautionary measure.
The Milton girl was cited for failure to yield the right of way and no insurance in possession.
Route 1 south at Eagle Crest Road and a section of Cave Neck Road were closed for about an hour and a half as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
