Morning crash ties up Route 24
A Millsboro man was cited with driving on the wrong side of the road after the van he was driving ran into a truck Sept. 25 causing a morning backup.
Dustin J. Burns, 32, was driving westbound on Route 24 near Legion Road at 7:40 a.m. when he drove into the eastbound lanes and struck the driver side of a 2009 Peterbilt truck driven by Rodney G. Dotson, 45, of Cambridge, Md., said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
The van continued westbound and stopped in front of the American Legion; the truck came to a controlled stop on the shoulder, Fournier said.
Burns was taken to Beebe Medical Center for nonlife-threatening injuries. He was cited with driving on the wrong side of the road.
Dotson also was taken to Beebe Medical Center where he was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.
Route 24 was impacted for two and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
