Motorcycle club's annual memorial poker run set for April 26

Apr 17, 2014

Three years ago on April 23, 25-year-old Megan Moore of Milton lost her fight with lupus. Her parents and the Second Brigade Motorcycle Club named the annual poker run the Megan Moore Memorial Annual Poker Run. Tragically, both of Megan's parents, Chuck “Milt” and Ruth Ann Moore, succumbed to injuries sustained in an automobile accident earlier this year. They were the driving force behind the Megan Moore Memorial Annual Poker Run.

This event attracts both motorcycle enthusiasts and anyone who likes to sample food and enjoy listening to music outdoors on a spring Saturday. Monies raised from this event go to the Home of the Brave, a shelter for homeless military veterans. In addition to providing traditional housing, food and security, Home of the Brave helps with employment, counseling services, access to healthcare, transportation and locating affordable housing. The goal is to help veterans successfully transition into permanent housing and personal independence.

This year's event will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, April 26, at Home of the Brave, 6632 Sharps Road, Milford. Poker run registration will run from 10 a.m. until noon. This year, attendees will enjoy tunes from Johnny Milton. There will be food, drinks and door prizes, a silent auction, vendors, games and face painting.

Cost for this event is $10 per person or $15 per couple. Children under 12 and those with military IDs get in free. Ronald Knowles or Rodeo may be reached at 302-222-1702 by those with any questions about this event or those who want to to register as vendors.
