Motorcyclist dies from injuries sustained in Greenwood crash
A 67-year-old Millsboro man has died from injuries sustained after police say he ran his motorcycle into the back of a pickup truck July 6 before crashing near Greenwood.
John M. Hodgson was riding a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle at 9:20 p.m. southbound on Route 13 near Cart Branch Road, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
For unknown reasons, Fournier said, Hodgson struck the left rear of a 2008 Ford F-150 driven by Charles Lofland, 66, of Seaford. Hodgson lost control of his motorcycle and fell onto the ground; he was not wearing a helmet, Fournier said.
Hodgson was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and later flown to Christiana Medical Center where he died July 7, Fournier said.
Lofland and his three adult passengers were uninjured in the crash.
