Motorcyclist Joseph Thomas suffers head injury following crash
A Georgetown man suffered a serious head injury July 27 after a single motorcycle crash near Seaford.
Joseph E. Thomas, 65, was driving a 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Concord Pond Road south of Hastings Farm Road when he left the roadway for unknown reasons, said Cpl. John Day of the Delaware State Police.
Thomas drove into a ditch and traveled several hundred feet before he crashed head first into a roadside utility box; he was not wearing a helmet, Day said.
Thomas was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and then flown to Christiana Hospital where he was admitted with a serious head injury.
Concord Pond Road was closed for about two hours during the investigation.
