Rehoboth board to meet Nov. 25
The Rehoboth Beach Board of Adjustment will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 25, in the city commissioners’ room to hear three cases.
First is a continuance of a public hearing for 49A Lake Ave. Owner Frank Perna Jr. is appealing the building inspector’s decisions to not issue a building permit or a business license for the property.
If the appeal is denied, attorney John Paradee has also requested a variance to allow a second dwelling unit and to allow a business license for the garage-style apartment.
Bruce Geyer of Columbia Avenue Exchange LLC is requesting a second appeal for lots 63 and 65 at 89 Columbia Ave. Property owner Geyer is arguing that the lots have been merged.
Finally, the board will hear a motion for reargument by S. Robert Boardman of 32 Virginia Ave. On Oct. 28, the board denied Boardman a variance to allow construction of a new porch with a setback 10.5 feet from the east property line and 10.25 feet from the west property line. There is currently a two-family house on the property, and Boardman is seeking a variance to allow a 9.75-foot encroachment on the west side. That would be 20 feet less than is required by city code, since the house encroaches on the entire east side setback area.
