Hearing set for Safety and Homeland Security

The Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security has announced that it will hold a public hearing in Sussex County as part of Gov. Jack Markell’s effort to improve Delaware’s regulatory climate and to streamline or eliminate unnecessary regulations.

The department’s public hearing is being conducted in connection with Markell’s Executive Order No. 36, a statewide review by all agencies to identify and remove regulatory hurdles. The hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Sussex Central High School, 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown.

After formal comment, the department will consider the input received and change or remove regulations accordingly.  The governor will submit a report to the General Assembly detailing the regulatory changes in all state agencies in June 2013. In addition to participating in the public hearings, members of the public are also encouraged to submit comments in writing.

Comments may be made at dshs.delaware.gov through March 1.

The DelDOT hearing is being conducted in connection with Markell’s Executive Order No. 36, a statewide review by all agencies to identify and remove regulatory hurdles. The hearing will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, at Sussex Central High School, located at 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown.

Cape school board meets Jan. 10

The Cape school board will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, in the Mariner Middle School cafeteria for a workshop meeting. The board will discuss a proposed dress code for the school district and a proposed dredging project for Silver Lake that would involve school property.

14th Representative District Dems to meet

The Democratic Party for the 14th Representative District will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Beachcombers (formerly Timothy’s), 19598 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is open to all registered Democrats who reside in the 14th District Some people will have dinner at 5:30 p.m. prior to the meeting.
