Nymphaea blossoms in First Street StationBoutique offers clothing, accessories made in USA, Great Britain.
With an inventory of that combines American cuts and craftsmanship and the flair of British designers, shopkeeper Marina Gulay recently opened her edgy women's boutique, Nymphaea, just off Rehoboth Avenue.
Like the water lilies and lotus flowers that inspired the shop's name, Nymphaea offers clothing that is delicate and feminine, with the occasional sparkle.
Getting off to a late start with her grand opening near the end of July, Gulay said she has been working to build an inventory of quality designers at a broad range of prices to satisfy all shoppers.
"I have clothing from casual to dressy," she said. "Some clothing for everyday and some clothing for special occasions. I would say the price range is kind of wide."
So far, Gulay said the reception to her store has been good and she has gotten feedback that Rehoboth needed a store like hers.
"Some of my friends who shop around say this is extremely affordable," she said. "They said our community needed something like this."
Many of the styles at Nymphaea are created by British designers in London, she said, and are not easy to find on this side of the Atlantic.
The other clothing at Nymphaea is designed and made in America, keeping up with the latest trends on this side of the sea.
"I'm interested in getting more American brands," Gulay said. As the business evolves, the owner said, she is interested in expanding her accessories section to add more handbags, shoes, intimate apparel and accessories.
After tip-toeing to a start this season, Gulay said she is looking forward to staying open on a limited basis through the winter and growing an already loyal local clientele.
"For now, it's just about getting more stock and more inventory to build a clientele," she said.
Nymphaea is at 70 Rehoboth Ave. Unit 6 in First Street Station, bordering Wilmington Avenue. For more information, contact the store at 302-227-1380.
