Obama delivers for Delaware with global warming plan

By Alyssa Gill | Jul 08, 2013

Delawareans still reeling from last year’s record-breaking temperatures and extreme weather events like Superstorm Sandy have new reason to hope for a more sustainable future.

On June 25, President Obama responded to the millions of Americans who spoke out on behalf of their communities and their families, urging him to lead on global warming. He unveiled a climate plan that will set limits on carbon pollution from power plants, advance energy efficiency, increase the nation’s commitment to renewable energy, and better equip states like Delaware to prepare for and react to weather-related disaster.

All of us who have felt the impacts of global warming - or simply worried about what’s in store for our kids and grandkids - can take comfort in knowing that President Obama has put the nation on a path toward a cleaner, healthier, and safer future. I am pleased to see senators Carper and Coons voice their support for the plan as well.

I urge President Obama to put this plan into action right away, so that pollution fueling global warming-related disaster doesn’t bring more tragedy to our state.
