Ocean Atlantic hosts HGTV-style home staging event
Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty hosted an HGTV-style event Oct. 2 showcasing the positive impact of staging a home before listing it for sale. Approximately 30 people attended the event and were treated to a live staging of the home’s living space and outdoor deck. “The focus of the class was on quick and easy ways to maximize the value of your home through staging,” said Jack Kofoed, professional home stager with OASIR. “We transformed the living space in under 15 minutes using inexpensive slipcovers, drapery panels, and borrowed accessories - all for under $300 in cost.”
“Home staging is so important in the marketing and sale of properties,” said Kathleen Schell, OASIR marketing director. “Most buyers form an opinion about a home within 7-10 seconds of arriving at a property, which illustrates the difference that decluttering, cleaning, and painting can make in a first impression.
Most people are conducting their initial home search through internet research and photos. Simple changes with minimum investment can help a home, through photography and showings, appeal to the widest pool of prospective buyers and ultimately sell for the best price.” Class attendees participated in the fun and experiential atmosphere, with time for an informal question-and-answer session following the staging event.
Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s, in conjunction with Kofoed, is offering all listing clients a complimentary in-home staging consultation. Before the property is marketed for sale, Kofoed will provide a list of recommended home enhancements to the homeowner.
“We feel it is so important for our clients to have the benefit of a staging professional’s advice before their home is listed,” said Justin Healy, OASIR broker. “Staged homes on average sell 50 percent more quickly than nonstaged homes, and many of the recommended changes can be done at a minimum cost to homeowners.”
